NHS Highland have received several reports of Telecare users getting scam calls about their Telecare service.
Scammers are making calls ahead of the landline digital switchover, falsely claiming that people need to sign up for a new Telecare service or pay for a new digital Telecare box, stating their current system is now defunct. Some may even pretend to be from NHS Highland or a local GP practice. These calls are not genuine.
NHS Highland will never ask Telecare users for their bank details over the phone or request payment for new Telecare equipment.
Over the next 18 months, they will be replacing current Telecare boxes with a digital one free of charge.
